Consultation Fees

Consultation fees are billed at the recommended AMA rate. You will be advised of the cost when you make your appointment. A GP referral is required to claim a rebate from Medicare.

Blue Pension Concession Card holders will be bulk billed.

WorkCover and CTP covered patients will need to arrange approval through their insurer prior to the consultation. Fees will then be billed directly to the insurer.

DVA patients are fully covered with no out-of-pocket expenses.

Surgical Fees

Dr Freihaut operates exclusively at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Lismore.

Following the consultation, if you require an operation, you will be informed of the fees for surgery. This is your informed financial consent.

Your out-of-pocket expense for surgery depends of your level of cover and what your health fund offers you. The majority of  patients in a health fund which offers “Gap Cover” will be billed as No Gap or Known Gap to a maximum of $500 for Dr Freihaut’s fee. This includes routine joint replacement surgery. Health funds which don’t provide these types of cover may leave you with a greater out of pocket expense.

Your health fund may ask you to provide a list of item numbers for the surgery to confirm your coverage. These can be provided on request.

It is always advisable for you to contact your health fund to confirm your coverage and what your out of pocket expenses may be.

If you are not in a health fund you are still eligible for surgery with Dr Freihaut at St Vincent’s Private. You can obtain a quote following the consultation and are still eligible for a Medicare rebate which will cover a proportion of the cost.
